Age Classification 2025-26

* Players may always play at a higher level than their birthday or grade. If a player is playing at her grade, but her
birthday falls into a higher level, there may be some playing restrictions in any National Qualifying tournaments.

Playing Up an Age Bracket

A player may be asked to play up in a higher age bracket by the tryout evaluators. Determination of skill level will be made by
unbiased coaches and evaluators according to the tryout criteria. All age bracket exceptions will be authorized by the proper
SAJO Volleyball coaches committee in accordance with the JVA Volleyball age bracket policy and guidelines.

SAJO Out of District Policy

SAJO will accept out of district players if they are in the top 7 determined at tryouts and will not keep more than 4 per team unless
more are needed to field a team (team of 10). Teams will be created at the discretion of the club based on many elements including
skill, coachability, leadership, attitude, positional needs and team dynamics.

Team Selection

Age, ability, and at the older ages position played, shall determine teams. The general basis for team selection will be determined
through open tryouts of athletes residing in School District 834 and surrounding communities. Teams will consist from 9-12 players.
Ten is the number of players most coaches prefer to have because of rotations, positions, playing time, and an easy number to
instruct as a whole group and individually. Determination of teams will be based on individual skill level and position within each team
in order to create the strongest most competitive team roster. Player assessments will be made by unbiased coaches and evaluators
according to the tryout criteria, and team rosters will be reviewed by the SAJO Board
